Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1989 Grands Echézeaux
Grand Cru Red 750 ml
Tasting note: A mature nose blends secondary (though no sous-bois) aromas of spicy and earth dark berries that are trimmed in hints of dried rose petal and violet. The rich, full-bodied and relatively robust flavors possess good muscle and punch while delivering fine length on the powerful and driving if slightly rustic finale. For my taste this has arrived at its apogee though it should be capable of holding well for years to come. In sum, 1989 is a very good rather than great vintage, at least by the lofty standards, for this wine.
