說到波爾多紅酒若以價位來看，王者絕對非Chateau Pétrus莫屬。Chateau Pétrus的莊主Christian Moueix在1960年代末期曾在加州戴維斯分校留學，所以他深知加州的釀酒潛力；在經過多年的研究和尋找之後，終於在那帕谷地(Napa Valley)找到理想的葡萄園「Napanook園」，本園座落在那帕谷地的Yountville，1836年Napanook葡萄園種植了此地最早的葡萄樹。Christian Moueix和葡萄園的所有者Robin Lail與Marcia Smith姊妹合作成立了Dominus酒莊開始釀酒，1983年份開始正式生產。這是繼Opus One之後，又一膾炙人口的法美合作之頂級紅酒。 1996年份起，本酒莊也開始生產二軍酒，就以葡萄園的名字Napanook來命名，是年輕時就美味好喝的紅酒，而且價格相對親民許多！
用來釀造Napanook的葡萄，只使用位於Yountville，歷史悠久的小葡萄園，這裡的果實被細心照顧，單寧柔美，達到最美好的成熟。
Napanook 2012年，清楚表現出了一個獨特的年份，香氣純淨充滿嗅覺，帶有草莓、焦糖和薄荷，酒體完整強勁、豐富，單寧緊實，餘韻複雜而細膩悠長，帶有黑巧克力和烤過的杏仁風味。Napanook由 95% Cabernet Sauvignon 和 5% Petit Verdot 混釀，年輕時便可以飲用，而且適合搭餐，同時也有著十年以上的絕佳陳年潛力；Christian Moueix 建議在飲用年輕的年份時先使用醒酒器醒酒，能夠讓葡萄酒發展出迷人的香氣和潛能。
為了慶祝Napanook的第17個年份，2012年有了新的酒標，大膽只使用了黑白兩色做設計，表現出了酒款的成熟、意義和經典。
There are 2,000 cases of the 2013 Napanook Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. This wine reflects the much higher quality that’s emerging with the second wine of Dominus, which has really become almost its own entity. Loads of loamy soil notes, grilled herbs, meat, blackcurrants, sweet kirsch and licorice are all present in this medium to full-bodied, lush, sexy wine, even in 2013. It is interesting how much more evolved and forward the 2013 Napanook is compared to the 2013 Dominus. This wine can be drunk over the next 12-15 years. In any event, both merit considerable attention from subscribers.
