2008 Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses
Note: from 80+ year old vines
Producer note: This domaine consistently has some of the longest lasting malos in Chablis, a region known for having some of the longest in Burgundy.
Tasting note: Here too there is a wisp of sulfur though I would not expect it to be present much longer. Relative to the Vaudésir, the nose of the Preuses is not surprisingly finer and more elegant still with an equally classic nose that displays perhaps even more sea shore influence along with green fruit and floral elements. The rich, full and generous flavors possess outstanding precision and excellent volume if not the sheer power, along with a hugely long finish of crystalline purity. An impressive wine that should age well.
