Tasting note: (with thanks to Will Zeckendorf and Anthony Hall). This vintage has always reminded me of 1962 in the sense of the elegant, pure and very high-toned aromatic profiles that all of the best wines display. And true to form, this is beautifully perfumed with a layered nose offering terrifically complex notes of now almost completely secondary red pinot fruit aromas, underbrush, earth and Asian spice notes followed by relatively light flavors, at least by the usual standards of this wine and a finish that is now almost completely resolved. There is a touch of CO2 that detracts slightly but otherwise, this is one gorgeous wine. Tasted several times recently with consistent notes except for a bottle tasted in July 2019 that was delicious though the nose displayed quite a bit of volatile acidity.
