“Pegau”這個名字來來自於十四世紀，當時是一個由陶土製成的酒壺，專為用於皇宮貴族之中截取橡木桶中的葡萄酒之用的酒壺。酒壺的傳統形象，與這個酒莊的印象非常相近，就被取名為這個名稱。
知名葡萄酒漫畫『神之雫』中提到的第三使徒酒『2000 Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Da Capo』其酒廠就是沛果酒莊（Domaine & Chateau Pegau）；並且也是 Wine Spectator 名列百大酒款酒廠。
