Tasting note: A highly expressive, spicy and now mostly secondary nose of dried flowers, anise, earth, smoked game and dark berry fruit aromas precedes the delicious, intense and distinctly mineral-inflected large-scaled flavors that exhibit plenty of muscle and power on the delicious finish. There is a hint of dryness along with a touch of acidity poking through on the otherwise seriously lengthy finish that delivers simply terrific complexity if not necessarily the elegance and refinement of the best of these vintages. Still, this is indisputably a wine of quality that is drinking perfectly now though I would suggest having it with an appropriate dish as it helps to buffer the mild dryness. Note that another bottle also tried in 2015 displayed enough brett to cause the wine to be much less interesting than the example reviewed above; similarly, a bottle tried in January 2019 was equally marred by brett and volatile acidity and was essentially undrinkable.
