Tasting note: Mild bricking with a still deep ruby center. There is fine complexity to the notably floral, spicy, earthy and game-scented nose that is composed mostly of secondary red berry fruit aromas. The excellent complexity continues onto the delicious, round and decidedly rich medium-bodied flavors that offer excellent length on the still slightly structured finale. At this point in the vintage's evolution this is a really lovely effort with none of the green tannin and/or roasted fruit character so many '97s display today. In sum, this is really good stuff and drinking perfectly now though I underscore that well-stored bottles should continue to drink well for another decade or so.
