Tasting note: There is a slightly cloudy appearance while the color remains relatively deep ruby though there is lightening at the rim. The expressive and mostly secondary fruit nose flashes additional notes of sous-bois, spice, earth and a hint of leather character. There is fine punch and good density to the muscular, very rich and relatively powerful flavors that are shaped by mildly chewy tannins on the robust if nicely persistent and complex if mildly warm finale. While this bitter cherry-inflected effort could certainly be enjoyed now, and all the better with an appropriate dish, this is really a lovely effort that could still benefit from a few more years of cellaring.
