“Pégau”這個名字來來自於十四世紀，當時是一個由陶土製成的酒壺，專為用於皇宮貴族之中截取橡木桶中的葡萄酒之用的酒壺。酒壺的傳統形象，與這個酒莊的印象非常相近，就被取名為這個名稱。
知名葡萄酒漫畫『神之雫』中提到的第三使徒『2000
Pégau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée da Capo』其酒廠就是沛果酒莊（Domaine & Chateau
Pégau）；這間酒廠也是Wine Spectator 年度百大的常勝軍。
但早在日本知名漫畫「神之雫」出現成為第三使徒前
沛果教皇新堡卡珀紅酒已經紅遍國際，其中有4個年份酒評Wine
Advocate給予滿分100分，第一個年分1998為WA99分，酒體飽滿渾厚，餘韻悠長。讚不絕口。Wine Advocate酒評提到”
2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee da Capo is
impressive”，稱這支酒令人驚艷，印象深刻，一飲難忘。
Domaine du Pegau有三款頂級產品分別是: Cuvée Reservée (精選), Cuvée Laurence, Cuvée da Capo。第一款待在大木桶的時間18個月，後兩款待在木桶時間更長 (適飲期也更長)。Cuvée Reservée沒有前兩者厚實雄壯，而是柔順芬芳，價格平實合理，適合即飲。

Pegau's distinctive violet and garrigue aromas are on full display in the 2017 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée, backed by plummy fruit and velvety tannins. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with ample length and hints of mocha and licorice on the finish. Not as sexy out of the gate as some vintages, I'd give it another year or two in the cellar, then drink it over the next decade or so.
