Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Hostens-Picant gives up a rather earthy/meaty nose of tilled soil, underbrush and beef drippings over a core of blackberry pie and baked plum plus a hint of new leather and bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate has just enough black fruit and earthy layers, with a chewy texture and lively finish.
