Matris在拉丁語中的意思是“母親” ——這是對 Orthogneiss 風土中的 Chenin 葡萄血統的一個可愛的致敬。
Domaine de l’Ecu(艾居酒莊)位於法國羅亞爾河Muscadet產區，靠近法國大西洋，距離羅亞爾河出海口不遠，地勢較低氣候潮濕多雨，酒風常帶著海水礦石的獨特風味。
老莊主Guy Bossard是釀酒第三代，孩並長期堅持有機栽種。酒莊1975年獲得BIO認證，1998年酒莊內共22公頃的土地皆獲得自然動力法認證（Demeter），尊重風土條件，至今已經實行有機農法40年和自然動力法20年，是羅亞爾河自然酒的先驅酒莊之一。簡單且踏實的作品，更讓Guy贏得「Muscadet教父」的美名。
現任釀酒師Fred Niger，Fred先是引用源自美索不達米亞地區、被聯合國科技文組織列入「世界文化遺產」的人類工藝──陶甕釀造法：讓葡萄在陶甕內發酵，不換桶培養直到裝瓶，酒不受到木頭氣味影響，更趨近自然。每款陶甕酒依照品種分開釀造，每款酒的個性各自精采，優秀的品質馬上引起熱烈回響。
成功釀出各系列反映風土的經典酒款後，Fred更大膽創造「Fred與他的朋友們」系列酒款。
這個計畫最後成就的每一款酒，種植、採收、酒精發酵皆在朋友酒莊內完成，Fred僅將酒帶回酒莊且用陶甕做最後培養，每一款酒都非常少量，僅約1200-3000瓶。2017年共有11個酒莊參與，最遠還到達了義大利！
知名酒評雜誌《Wine Advocate》如此形容Ecu酒莊：

The 2018 Matris MMXVIII is based on massale selections of Chenin Blanc from Mark Angeli and Thierry Michon planted about seven years ago on orthogneiss. Yielding only 15 hectoliters per hectare, whole-bunch-pressed for 1.5 hours only and racked directly to amphora, this 2018 offers an intense and complex bouquet with ripe fruit and beautifully flinty/saline terroir notes. On the palate, this is a rich and juicy, very elegant and balanced Chenin that was aged on the full lees for 18 months. The wine reveals an intense, quite rich but pure, fresh and elegant finish with fine tannins and ripe, vital acidity. This is excellent. 14.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at ProWein in Düsseldorf in May 2022.
