The 1991 Proprietary Red Wine Caldwell Vineyard is muscular, tannic, and concentrated, as well as backward and closed to the extent that it is nearly impenetrable. The color, mouthfeel, ripeness, and extraction are present, but the high level of astringent tannin may be cause for concern if it does not sufficiently melt away. This wine needs another 3-4 years of cellaring.
