Tasting note: Here there is a trace reduction that pushes the underlying fruit to the background though it's not so strong as to completely mask the aromas of violet, pepper and earth. The acceptably concentrated medium weight flavors possess very good verve while exhibiting a distinctly rustic and somewhat attenuated finish. This definitely needs a few years of bottle age to resolve at least some of what are presently very chewy tannins.
