說到波爾多紅酒的王者絕對非Chateau Pétrus莫屬，莊主Christian Moueix在1960年代末期曾在加州留學，深知加州的釀酒潛力；在經過多年的研究和尋找後，終於在那帕谷地(Napa Valley)找到理想的葡萄園「Napanook園」，本園座落在Napa的Yountville。Christian Moueix和Napanook園的所有者Robin Lail與Marcia Smith姊妹合作成立了Dominus酒莊開始釀酒，1983年份開始正式生產。這是繼Opus One之後，又一膾炙人口的法美合作之頂級紅酒。Dominus酒莊完全使用Napanook園的葡萄來釀酒。理所當然地，Dominus運用了Pétrus的釀造技術，Pétrus的釀酒師也被派來擔任Dominus的釀酒顧問。有趣的是，Pétrus使用的幾乎是100%的Merlot，但Dominus卻是以Cabernet Sauvignon為主，再混合部分的Cabernet Franc、Merlot和Petit Verdot，出名門的Dominus紅酒，許多酒評家將它譽為Napa最好的Cabernet Sauvignon系的紅酒。1996年份起，本酒莊也開始生產二軍酒，就以葡萄園的名字Napanook來命名，是年輕時就美味好喝的紅酒。

The 2019 Dominus is blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, aged in 40% new French oak. Impressively dark-hued in the glass, it yields scents of cherries and cassis on the nose—or is it black cherries and redcurrants? Subtle notes of mocha, pencil shavings and almost Graves-like earthiness wind through the concentrated, medium to full-bodied palate, giving it a sense of savory gravitas, while the finish is silky and long, leaving a lingering residue of soft tannins and mouthwatering freshness.
