Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2009 Montrachet
Grand Cru White 750 ml
Issue: 47
Tasting note: An overtly ripe and moderately exotic yet very fresh nose exhibits a wonderfully complex aromatic profile comprised of a variety of both white and yellow orchard fruit, toasty oak, mango, spice and high-toned floral notes. The exceptionally rich and powerful large-scaled flavors brim with palate staining dry extract that imparts a seductive but also borderline chewy texture to the explosive and still very tightly wound finish. This is a huge Montrachet even by the outsized standards of what is typically the biggest white burgundy of all. This is seriously impressive and is a wine that should age for decades and about the only nit is that the 2009 version is perhaps slightly less refined than other recent vintages.
