The 2018 Las Pizarras Syrah has strong varietal aromas of smoky bacon and violets and an herbal twist, with moderate alcohol (13.5%) and vibrant acidity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, some earthiness and a balanced mouthfeel with elegance and complexity. It fermented with more full clusters and matured in Stockinger oak foudres and 60% of the volume in barrique (15% new) for 16 months, and the oak is imperceptible. It's juicy, with tension, varietal and a little more complete than the previous vintage and the finest produced so far. 6,718 bottles were filled in November 2019.
