位於波爾多的Chateau Haut Bages Libéral位於Pauillac村南邊，“Bages”是本村一處礫石台地的地名，排水良好的貧瘠土壤提供了優異的種植葡萄環境；酒莊名稱的Libéral則是源自18世紀時的酒莊主人。本酒莊在1855年的分級名列五級酒莊。1983年起酒商背景的Villars家族入主本酒莊，2000年起是由年輕一代的女莊主Claire Villars-Lurton掌管，她事必躬親地全心全意投入酒莊大小事務，讓本酒莊近年來的表現越來越耀眼。

The 2016 Haut Bages Liberal has a very focused and much more sumptuous bouquet than in previous years, thankfully without dispensing any of its character. It just seems more confident on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, pretty blackberry and boysenberry fruit laced with a touch of oyster shell, sashaying towards a quite elegant finish with admirable depth. You would not describe this as a potentially exciting Pauillac, but I suspect it will be delicious once in bottle.
