2001 Domaine Bonneau du Martray • Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
WA Rating: 91
Drink Date: 2005 - 2013
Drink: 2009-2016
Tasting note: It's not all that difficult to understand why Morinière thought to compare this to the '99 as it is ripe and richly fruited with earthy, plumy and juicy fruit followed by round, opulent, meaty, beautifully complex and balanced flavors that offer prominent, indeed firm but not hard structure plus fine intensity and length. Delicious and relatively approachable for young Corton, underpinned by fine, dusty tannins. Overall, this is very fresh and has a notable mineral quality to it.
