法國隆河產區的著名酒商之中，M. Chapoutier公司不管是在葡萄酒的質與量都有相當卓越的表現，在全世界的愛酒人士心目中有相當的地位。第一代的Chapoutier在1789年來到北隆河的葡萄酒重鎮Tain-l'Hermitage，他在酒商公司工作，後來甚至於1808年購買了老東家的酒廠，開創了Chapoutier家族的葡萄酒事業。後來該公司開始購置葡萄園，使得Chapoutier從單純賣酒的酒商，轉變成為也具有自家葡萄園的酒莊，逐漸發展為大型酒商，也跨足到其他產區，每年總產量可達450萬瓶，打造出Chapoutier的葡萄酒王國。同時本公司也名列Robert Parker所著的「全世界最偉大的葡萄酒莊(The World’s Greatest Wine Estates)」一書中。
現在本公司是由第8代的Michel Chapoutier負責經營管理。他從1989年接掌公司之後，施行了許多創新改革，使本公司的品質和聲譽都達到高峰。早在1995年他就導入生物動力法來管理葡萄園，在裝瓶前不進行澄清和過濾，使其產品表現出更好的架構和優雅。1996年開始又有另一創舉：在酒標上加上盲人點字，不僅方便了視障飲用者，也使其酒標有獨特風格而達到話題行銷的附加效益。
Chapoutier Ermitage L’Ermite
Chapoutier目前擁有26公頃的Hermitage葡萄園，另有租來的5.5公頃，共計31.5公頃（幾乎是Hermitage的四分之一！）；其中的19.5公頃種植的是釀造紅酒的Syrah品種，另外的12公頃種植Marsanne白葡萄老樹。Chapoutier推出了4款單一葡萄園旗艦產品Hermitage紅酒(但是標示為Ermitage，發音是一樣的)：Le Méal 、Le Pavillon、L’Ermite和Les Greffieux。
L’Ermite第一個推出的年份是1996，葡萄園地塊就在著名的禮拜堂Chapelle旁邊，平均樹齡80歲，年產量約5000瓶，相當珍貴稀有。這款酒香氣最為清雅細緻，以黑莓、黑櫻桃、香料氣味為主，單寧強勁扎實、結構緊緻，香味帶有煙燻、石墨及胡椒、香料的風味，有極長的陳年潛力，是4款旗艦酒中最耐陳年的。
The 2010 Ermitage l’Ermite (454 cases produced) is another perfect wine. Completely different than Le Pavillon, l’Ermite is always slightly more austere. It comes from a 7.5-acre parcel of sandy, granitic soils at the top of the Hill of Hermitage that produces both red and white compelling Hermitages, somewhat unusual in this tiny appellation. The black/purple-colored 2010 l’Ermite exhibits a tight, more mineral-dominated set of aromatics offering up hints of blue and black fruits, charcoal, steak tartare and an unmistakable floral note. This full-bodied, more austere and tannic effort reveals extraordinary weight, palate penetration and purity. It represents the concentrated essence of a specific site as well as the Syrah grape planted in this magical appellation. Forgot it for 10-15 years, possibly two decades, and drink it over the following 50-75 years.
