Chateau Pontet-Canet在波爾多1855年的分級中，被遴選為第五級頂級酒莊。座落在Pauillac村的中北部，緊鄰著一級酒莊Chateau Mouton-Rothschild，面積120公頃的佔地中有80公頃是葡萄園，土壤表層主要是本地典型的礫石，下面則混合了黏土和石灰岩，種植了60% Cabernet-Sauvignon、32% Merlot，其他為Cabernet Franc和Petit Verdot，平均樹齡35歲。
從1975年以來，本酒莊一直是干邑白蘭地酒商Guy Tesseron的產業，但是在1994年份之前的其表現僅屬平平，直到1994年年輕一輩的Alfred Tesseron開始接掌本酒莊之後，勵精圖治於改善設備和葡萄園管理，並聘請知名釀酒師來負責釀造。改建後的酒窖採用先進的重力導流系統，並在2005年份起使用獨特的圓椎型混凝土發酵槽，是波爾多釀造工程上的先驅。在Alfred Tesseron的努力之下， 1994年份開始的Pontet-Canet酒質有了驚人的進步，其表現甚至直逼一些頂尖的二級酒莊，可以說它現在已經達到本酒莊史上前所未有的超高水準。連最著名的波爾多酒評家Robert Parker也屢次給予本酒莊高度的讚賞：“One can’t say enough about the extraordinary work proprietor Alfred Tesseron has done s Cince 1994 in taking Pontet-Canet to a remarkable level of quality.”

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Pontet-Canet hits the ground running with a hedonic nose of Black Forest cake, crème de cassis and blueberry pie plus suggestions of candied violets, hoisin, chocolate mint, charcuteries and forest floor with a waft of star anise. Full-bodied, rich, profoundly layered and powerfully fruited, the palate is built like a brick house, with very firm, super ripe, grainy tannins and harmonious freshness, finishing with incredible length and depth. Still incredibly primary and yet already strutting so many layers, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this warrants the three-digit score in a few years' time.
